Program uses electronic mail to help students gain career objectives and personal finance skills

DALLAS—eAchieve, a program that pairs Dallas Independent School District students at Hulcy Middle School with Accenture employees via e-mail, will be launched on Friday in a special training session at the Infomart. "E-Partners" is part of DISD's Partners in Education volunteer program that connects caring adults with students through electronic mail.

The kick-off presentation and training program for volunteers and students will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, at the Infomart, 1950 N. Stemmons Frwy. DISD trustee Hollis Brashear and Accenture Managing Partner Randy Muck, will be present.

eAchieve is Accenture's "E-partnership" with Junior Achievement and Hulcy Middle School. The program pairs an Accenture employee with an eighth grader at the school in order to enhance that student's life and academic curriculum through e-mail. Students will meet their mentors on Friday, with additional face-to-face meetings scheduled for January and May.

Each Accenture mentor will reply to one e-mail per week during the length of the program, with e-mails flowing via the Junior Achievement Personal Finance software to a Hulcy teacher before reaching the students. Pre- and post-testing will be conducted to allow Junior Achievement, DISD and Accenture to measure the impact the eAchieve program has made on a student.
