DISD-Seminar Offer Tips to Promote School Success & Community Involvement

DALLAS—From "Helping Your Child Succeed" to "Conflict and Anger: Dealing With Stress," the community is invited to participate in more than 20 workshops sponsored by the Dallas Independent School District. The workshops will be offered at the Connecting Communities and Schools: An Educational Conference for parents, teachers, administrators and community members from 8:30 a.m until noon, Saturday, September 22, at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, 1201 East 8th Street (just east of I 35). The workshops are free.

Bob Ray Sanders, vice president and associate editor, Fort Worth Star-Telegram is the keynote speaker.

Seminars target five main topics: communications; participation in the PTA; cultural and school climate; parent education and involvement; leadership development and team building. Several of the sessions will be offered in Spanish. The sessions are conducted by district and community professionals.
