Deadline For Veterans Who Want To Participate in Special Ceremony Oct. 25
DALLAS–Veterans who left high school before graduation to serve in World War II are eligible to apply for a high school diploma. The Dallas Independent School District will honor those veterans who complete the application process by October 25 at a Patriotic Assembly and World War II Veterans Diploma Ceremony.
The special ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, November 9, at Loos Stadium, located at 3815 Spring Valley Road. For those veterans who would like to be recognized at the assembly, contact Loraine Green-Lee at (972) 925-3767.
Under the Texas Education Code, an eligible veteran is one who:
• is an honorably discharged member of the armed forces for the United States;
• was scheduled to graduate from high school after 1940 and before 1951; and
• left high school before graduation to serve in World War II.
