DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District will hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, in honor of Barbara Dorff, a finalist in the state's Teacher of the Year competition who also could be named this morning as the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year.
The news conference will be held in the Media Center at Benjamin Franklin Middle School located at 6920 Meadow Road in Dallas.
By the time of the news conference, the state's elementary and secondary teachers of the year will have been notified that they have won. If she is named, Dorff will receive a phone call from State Education Commissioner Jim Nelson.
The news conference will be led by DISD Chief of Staff Carol Francois. During the news conference, Dorff will be presented with a letter of commendation from General Superintendent Mike Moses, who will not be able to attend the event.
A mult-box will be provided for members of the electronic media.
