District Wants To Give Students Who Left School Before Graduation Another Chance At Earning High School Diploma

DALLAS–WHAT: Hook Up With School, a dropout recovery fair, is designed to give students another chance at a high school education. At the fair, DISD counselors will provide students with information about the district's new nontradional high school diploma programs.

WHO: During the 1999-2000 school year, 8,979 high school students out of 65,290 dropped out of school. Thirty one percent of the graduating class of 2000 left school without diplomas. This fair will provide these students and others information about DISD programs that will help them earn their high school diploma.

WHY: To help students graduate from high school and them opportunities to be more successful in life

WHEN: Scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, October 19

WHERE: Texas Discovery Gardens building at the State Fair of Texas
