Dear Principals, Teachers, Parents and Students of DISD:
In light of the situation our nation faces, and the fact that our national government has urged us all to be mindful of our environments, we feel it is important to once again remind you to be careful Wednesday evening as you engage in Halloween festivities in our city.
In other local cities, officials are recommending that youngsters who will be Trick or Treating refrain from going neighborhood to neighborhood. In other words, stick to the houses and streets you know. We urge parents to walk with their children and keep them from eating their treats until they have had the opportunity to closely inspect them.
We all enjoy memories of Halloweens past. Our children look forward to dressing up and gathering candy and treats all year long. As we let them engage in this annual tradition Wednesday, please, be careful. Be alert to your surroundings. Act responsibly. Keep yourself and your children safe. Carry a flashlight and even a cell phone if possible. But most of all, have fun and enjoy the freedoms we enjoy as American citizens.
