DISD Deputy Superintendent Jim Scales Re-appointed To Statewide Association Boards

AUSTIN–The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has re-appointed Jim Scales of Dallas to the Texas School Cash Management Program and Lone Star Investment Pool Boards of Trustees. He will serve on the boards through February 2004.

A deputy superintendent for administrative services with the Dallas Independent School District, Scales is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators and American Association of School Administrators. He also is a member of the Association for the Study of Curriculum Development, Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, National Alliance of Black School Educators, Phi Delta Kappa and Alpha Phi Alpha.

Before joining the DISD executive team, Scales served as the superintendent of College Station Independent School District. He started his public education career as a teacher/coach in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. In Millwood Public Schools in Oklahoma City, he was a high school principal and later served as interim superintendent. In the Tulsa Public Schools in Oklahoma, he served as Area 2 superintendent before becoming superintendent of CSISD.

Scales has a doctorate of philosophy from the University of Tulsa, a master of science and a bachelor of science from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. The districts they represent have a combined annual budget of $25 billion and employ more than 600,000 people.
