A PEP RALLY OF A DIFFERENT KIND

Students Commend Each Other for Academic Success

DALLAS—Hundreds of Dallas Independent School District students will clap and cheer for their classmates. Good grades, not touchdowns, are the reason for the pep rally planned for this Saturday at George W. Carver Learning Center.

According to DISD Trustee Lew Blackburn, who is hosting the event, the activity is planned to honor students for good behavior and academic excellence in the classroom. "Learning is an essential part of life and should be recognized as we recognize other achievements," he said.

Cheerleaders from surrounding schools will add to the festive atmosphere and local school bands will provide the musical entertainment. Door prizes will be raffled among the participants. The rally will be held from 10:30 until noon, November 10, at 3719 Greenleaf. Students need to present their report card to participate in the celebration.
