DISD To Host Town Hall Briefings Throughout Dallas

Meetings To Inform Public About Upcoming $1.366 Billion Bond Proposal

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District has scheduled nine town hall briefings to inform the public about the upcoming bond proposal.

Superintendent Mike Moses, DISD board trustees and other district officials will be present at the meeting. The agenda of the town hall briefings includes presentatations on the status of district schools and facilities, priority facility needs, recommended renovations to existing schools and proposals for new schools. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and will receive an information packet detailing the bond proposal recommendations.

All town hall briefings will start at 7 p.m. The meetings are:

November 26: W. H. Adamsom High School, 201 N. 9th Street;

November 27: W. W. Samuell High School, 8928 Palisade Drive;

December 3: Dan D. Rogers Elementary, 5314 Abrams Road;

December 4: Everette Lee DeGolyer Elementary, 3453 Flair Drive;

December 5: Bryan Adams High School, 2101 Millmar Drive;

December 10: Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, 1201 East 8th Street;

December 11: Lincoln High School/Magnet,2826 Hatcher Street;

December 17: North Dallas High School, 3120 N. Haskell Avenue; and

December 18: Justin F. Kimball High School, 3606 S. Westmoreland Road.

The $1.366 billion bond proposal resulted from the reports and data collected by the district's five-year old Facilities Needs Task Force and Heery International Inc., an architecture, engineering and construction management firm hired to conduct a facilities needs assessment of all district buildings. The facilities needs recommendations include one new high school, three middle schools and 16 new elementary schools.
