Reception to Honor DISD Principals

First Round of Campus Administrators Selected for Principal of the Year Competition

DALLAS–A For Principals Only reception to honor 18 principals who have been nominated by their colleagues from Areas 7, 8 and 9 of the Dallas Independent School District to compete in the 5th Annual MetLife Principal of the Year Competition. Deputy Superintendent Jim Scales will be on hand at the reception where one principal from each of the three areas will be selected as a finalist at the reception.

When: Friday, December 14, at 10 a.m.

Why: To recognize and reward outstanding DISD principals

Who: The principals who are nominated from Areas 7, 8 and 9 are Veronica Pasternak, Harry C. Withers Elementary; Jonnice Legum-Berns, Anne Frank Elementary; Shirley Lewis, K. B. Gill Elementary; Teresa Parker, Preston Hollow Elementary; Chris Nee,Victor Hexter Elementary; Gene Ward, Barbara Manns High; Ruth Woodward, School of Education & Social Services at the Yvonne A. How: The nomination criteria took into consideration leadership, management, community relations and communications skills.

Note: A reception to recognized Nominees from in Areas 4, 5 and 6 is scheduled in March. Principals in Areas 1, 2 and 3 will be honored in May. The nine finalists will become eligible to be named the Principal of the Year. The winner will be announced at a luncheon in May.
