DISD Trustees Amend Public Participation Policy

DALLAS-The Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees amended its public participation policy at a regular monthly meeting held in November.

Under the amended policy:

•Public participation at board meetings is limited to registered speakers.

•Deadline to register with the Office of Board Services to speak at the Committee of the Whole or the Regular Monthly meetings is by 3 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

•No one will be allowed to address the board twice in a 30 day period.

•Anyone who is asked to leave a meeting because of disruptive behavior will not be allowed to address the board meeting for 90 days.

• Registered speakers may address specific agenda items, board policies or matters of public concern at the Committee of the Whole meeting.

•Registered speakers who have not addressed the board at the Committee of the Whole meeting may address specific agenda items at the regular monthly board meeting.

The Committee of the Whole meets every third Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m. in the board room of the School Administration Building. The Board of Trustees holds its regular meetings at 6 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month in the auditorium of the School Administration Building. Speakers may register in person or by telephoning the Office of Board Services at (972) 925-3720. The School Administration Building is located at 3700 Ross Avenue.
