Tour To Include Spruce High School, A District Sports Facility Monday
DALLAS-After requesting the opportunity to see why the Dallas Independent School District has proposed a $1.366 billion bond election to build new schools and make needed repairs, Dallas Cowboy running back Emmitt Smith will join DISD Superintendent Mike Moses on Monday as they tour H. Grady Spruce High School and a district sports facility as part of a bus tour of the district.
Members of the news media may make arrangements to also ride the bus with Moses and Smith and conduct scheduled interviews between locations. On-the-bus interviews will be coordinated by DISD Communications Director Donny Claxton on a first-come, first-served basis. They may be scheduled by calling Claxton at 214-535-7882.
This second DISD bond media tour will begin from DISD offices at 3700 Ross Avenue at 9 a.m., Monday, Jan. 14. From the DISD building Smith and Moses will ride to Spruce High School in southeast Dallas to view the school's critical maintenance problems.
At 10:30 a.m. the bus will leave for the Pleasant Grove football field located at 8228 Maddox Avenue where the two will talk about the district's athletic and extra-curricular needs.
The tour will conclude at DISD offices by 11:30 a.m. when Smith has to depart for the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Springs.
For the tour, Smith and Moses also will be joined by Spruce's principal John Washington, and Troy Mathieu, the district's athletic director, as well as AMG's President Werner Scott, whose firm represents Emmitt's affairs.
