Deadline to Submit Requests for Proposal January 18

DALLAS–January 18 is the deadline for Dallas nonprofit organizations to submit Requests for Proposals to receive funds from the Dallas Independent School Districts' Common Cents project.

With more than 40 schools participating, the district's Common Cents, a coin-collection campaign is spearheaded by students. The project is designed to raise money for charity and nonprofit organizations. It encourages good citizenship and social responsibility in young people.

It was four years ago when Louise Gartner, a retired Dallas resident, introduced Common Cents to DISD students.

Organizations requesting funds to support their nonprofit agency should apply to one of the participating schools nearest them so that students' donations will help families in their campus communities. An awards ceremony is planned for March to present the funds to the selected organizations.

For more information about Common Cents and participating schools, contact Lawana Porter in the DISD Communication Services Department at (972) 925-3915.
