Board President Zornes Says 14 Maps To Be Considered By The Board Next Week
DALLAS—Dallas Independent School Board of Trustees President Ken Zornes said Friday that the board will convene Monday evening for further consideration of the redistricting issue and will have a second meeting on redistricting Friday evening.
In all, Zornes said the board will be considering a total of 14 maps—they had narrowed the field to nine maps, but with revisions and "tweaking" that has been taking place over the past week, an additional five maps have been created.
"The process has been open and above board, and because of the changes that have been proposed during the past week, we will be looking at 14 maps instead of nine," Zornes said. "Instead of throwing out the maps that have been refined, we wanted to have them handy so that we could have any 'before and after' discussions that might come up."
The 6 p.m. Monday meeting will be held in the Board Room of the administration building located at 3700 Ross Avenue. Friday's meeting also will be held at 6 p.m.
"We will meet Friday for the purpose of deliberating further about the maps and possibly adopting one of them," Zornes said. "Public input has been very valuable in this process. The trustees look forward to completing the process."
