A Night of Excellence in DISD

48 Schools To Be Honored For Receiving TEA's Highest Ratings

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District has planned A Night of Excellence dinner at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4, to honor 48 schools that are rated exemplary or recognized by the Texas Education Agency for the 2000-01 school year.

Sponsored by the IBM Corporation, the dinner will be at The Wyndham Anatole Hotel, located at 2201 Stemmons Freeway. General Superintendent Mike Moses said the exemplary and recognized schools dinner gives the district the opportunity to honor educational excellence. He will present special awards to representatives from each of the campuses. The guest list for the dinner includes principals, teachers, students, parents and school volunteers.

Released by TEA in August 2001, DISD doubled the number of exemplary and recognized schools from the previous year's accountability ratings. The district has 16 schools rated exemplary and 32 schools rated as recognized. Exemplary and recognized ratings are the two highest ratings given by TEA. The ratings are based on a statewide accountability system that takes into account TAAS scores and dropout rates.
