Dallas-Fort Worth High School Seniors to Receive Scholarships from University
What: The president and the provost of The University of Texas at Austin will award scholarships to high school seniors attending Dallas and Fort Worth public schools who have been admitted to the university. The two will conclude the tour at South Oak Cliff High School.
Who: Larry Faulkner, president of The University of Texas at Austin; Sheldon Ekland-Olson, the university's provost and executive vice president; and other top university officials. Faulkner will present scholarships in Fort Worth and Ekland-Olson in Dallas. The two will meet at Dallas' South Oak Cliff High School to present those scholarships.
When: 9 a.m., Monday, April 8
Where: Provost Ekland-Olson will present scholarships to seniors at the following Dallas high schools:
• North Dallas at 9 a.m., 3120 N. Haskell Avenue
• Skyline at 10:15 a.m., 7777 Forney Road
• David W. Carter at 11:30 a.m., 1819 W. Wheatland Road
• South Oak Cliff at 12:30 p.m., 3601 S. Marsalis Avenue
Why: To recognize and present scholarships to the outstanding DISD students who have been admitted to The University of Texas at Austin. The parents of seniors receiving scholarships and the top 10 percent of the junior class at each school also have been invited to the presentations. Presentations will last about 15 minutes each.
