Top Students To Attend Texas Scholar College Fair, April 10
DALLAS–About 2,000 juniors from the Dallas Independent School District have been selected to attend the Texas Scholars Spring College Fair scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at The University of Dallas Gymnasium, Building 7.
Texas Scholars Spring College Fair will give juniors the opportunity to visit with more than 30 representatives from colleges and universities. Sponsored by the National Hispanic College Fair Inc., the fair is designed to help juniors explore colleges and universities during their senior year of high school, said Vicki Johnston, DISD director of Counseling Services.
"This pre-college planning event will equip juniors with the knowledge they need to start narrowing their colleges down this summer before they enter their senior year," she said. "It will help them begin thinking about admission requirements, financial aid needs and what various schools have to offer."
The students selected to participate in the Texas Scholars College Fair are in the top 25 percent of their class and are scheduled to complete the recommended or distinguished achievement high school program. These state graduation programs are designed for students who plan to attend college after high school. All DISD ninth grade students begin high school in the recommended program or the distinguished achievement program.
The University of Dallas is located at 1845 East Northgate Drive in Irving, Texas. For more information about the Texas Scholars Spring College Fair for Juniors, contact Vicki Johnston at (972) 925-3425
