Children of Uganda Tour of Light 2002 Performs at Majestic Theater, April 8

DALLAS–As part of the 17 city U. S. tour to raise $1 million to support orphans in Uganda, the award-winning dance troupe Tour of Light 2002 will present two performances at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Majestic Theater, 1925 Elm Street.

Students from 36 Dallas Independent School District schools will be attending the Tour of Light 2002 performances.

The dance troupe is comprised of 20 Ugandan children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. The four-month tour started in New York in January 2002 and ends in San Antonio, Texas. Children of Uganda last toured the United States in 2000, visiting 11 cities and winning thousands of fans through performances at The Kennedy Center, Stanford University, The White House and The Late Show with David Letterman.

The tour is produced by the Uganda Children's Charity Foundation and sponsored by The Kennedy Center and Wyndham International to raise funds for HIV-related orphans. UCCF plans to use the money raised from the tour to support 1,200 orphaned children. UCCF currently provides support for 850 children in three orphanages in Uganda. The organization provides education, food, shelter and medical care for the children.
