DPD MOTOR OFFICER TO SPEAK TO HEXTER SIXTH GRADERS ABOUT BIKE SAFETY, VALUE OF PERSEVERANCE AND ENDURANCE THURSDAY
DALLAS—Three motorcycle racers will join a Dallas Police Department motorcycle officer Thursday as they speak to nearly 80 Dallas Independent School District sixth graders about the value of endurance, perseverance and education in achieving one's full potential.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Victor H. Hexter Elementary School auditorium located at 9720 Waterview Road in Dallas.
Officer Joe Chatham, a 13-year veteran, often speaks to children about bicycle safety in the context of his passion for motorcycles and motorcycle endurance racing.
Two of the other speakers are Supercross motorcycle team members who are competing this weekend at Texas Stadium, the third is Michael Martin, a professional motorcycle road racer.
The assembly will include a discussion of bicycle safety, t-shirts that will be presented to the students, and supervised junior motocross motorcycle rides in the playground.
