Daniel 'Chappie' James Learning Center Students Get To See Live Crocodile at School
DALLAS–Accompanied by a live, four-foot West African Dwarf crocodile, herpetologist Brady Barr will talk to Dallas Independent School District elementary students about characteristics of modern crocodilians and compare them to their prehistoric ancestors.
Dr. Barr, National Geographic channel's Croc Man, will make his presentation to fourth, fifth and sixth graders at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the auditorium at Daniel "Chappie" James Learning Center. The school is located at 1718 Robert B. Cullum Blvd.
Dr. Barr will incorporate slides and video in his presentation as he compares the modern crocodilians to the SuperCroc, a giant, Cretaceous-era crocodilian that was as long as a city bus. Dr. Barr is experienced in dealing with crocodiles in captivity and in the wild. He will be joined by a crocodile handler to help him with his presentation to about 100 students.
