Community Input Could Impact Programs' Implementation
DALLAS — The Dallas Independent School District will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. Friday, May 10, in Room 346 of the school administration building, 3700 Ross Ave., to solicit input on changes to federally funded programs.
The No Child Left Behind Act, signed by President George W. Bush in January, will affect the implementation of such federally mandated programs as school choice, parental involvement, migratory children education, family literacy, at-risk student education, professional development for teachers, technology education curriculum, drug- and violence-free schools and magnet schools.
DISD is urging the community to attend the meeting to find out more about these changes and learn how to have input in the district's plan for programs from Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV and Title V of the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994.
Representatives from private schools as well as representatives from DISD's principals and teachers will be present at the meeting.
