Summer School Dates Announced for DISD

Transportation, Lunch Will Be Provided for Students Who Qualify

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District is offering extended year services for students who need to recover credit, advance their studies or enrich their learning experience.

The 2002 Summer School Program will be offered at 54 elementary schools, 14 middle schools and 11 high schools. Summer school classes are not offered on Friday.

Registration for secondary district students will be held June 10. Out-of-district secondary students may enroll June 11. Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The dates and times of program operations are:

Elementary Classes: June 4-27

8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for accelerated and TAAS programs;

8 a.m. to noon for enrichment programs.

Middle School Classes: June 11 to July 24

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

High School Classes: June 11 to July 24

7:30 a.m. to 1:05 p.m

For DISD students in grades K-8, eligible students will have the opportunity to participate in the summer school program at no cost. However, DISD students in grades 9-12 are required to pay a non-refundable $70 fee per course. In addition to this fee, non-DISD students will also be required to pay a non-refundable $100 enrollment fee.

Transportation will be provided for elementary and middle school students who qualify for service and for high school students on established routes. For additional transportation information, contact your local campus. Elementary students enrolled in the program may receive free breakfast and lunch at the school sites.
