175 Students To Be Recognized For Completing Requirements, June 8
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District has scheduled a recognition ceremony for 195 students who have met the requirements to receive their GED through the district's Adult Basic Education Department.
The graduation ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in the auditorium at the Lincoln Instructional Center. A reception will follow the ceremony. The center is located at 5000 S. Malcolm X Blvd.
"The ceremony gives the graduates the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment," Jacqueline Kennedy, DISD counselor said. "Also, the students are able to share their success with friends and family."
In March, about 100 students completed the district's GED program and received certificates. Annually, the district offers 75 to 100 GED classes throughout Dallas and Rockwall counties. The classes are free for anyone who is 18-years old or older. For more information about the GED classes, contact the DISD Adult Basic Education Department at (972) 925-2525.
