Author Ann McKee Is Keynote Speaker
DALLAS—Students' social, emotional and psychological needs is the focus of a symposium sponsored by the he Dallas Independent School District to be presented Monday, August 12. Ann McKee, co-author of the bestseller "Primal Leadership: Realizing the Importance of Emotional Intelligence", is the keynote speaker.
"Promoting Student Success and Well-Being" symposium will be held from 8 am to 4 pm., 12th floor of the Dallas World Trade Center, 2050 Stemmons Frwy. More than a dozen experts in the fields of health and mental health will address principals, district staff and administrators.
"We must all understand that mental health is more than the absence of mental illness," says Truman Thomas, coordinator - Best Practices Institute. "We can provide youth opportunities to practice good mental health, and thereby become successful students and lifelong responsible citizens."
Best Practices Institute, a component of the district's Instructional Services Division, is funded by a grant from the Meadows Foundation.
