Winner Will Receive $5,000 Award
DALLAS—General Superintendent Mike Moses will announce the 2002-2003 Dallas Independent School District Teacher of the Year Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the district's annual teacher of the year awards banquet.
Sponsored by H-E-B Central Market, the event begins with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The banquet will be held on the 42nd floor of CityPlace Conference Center, 2711 North Haskell Avenue.
The winner will receive a $5,000 cash award and will represent the district in the next level of competition sponsored by the Region 10 Education Service Center.
DISD Teacher of the Year finalists are:
Tom Cox, an architecture teacher at Skyline Career Development Center. He has 22 years of teaching experience.
Verbeana Hatton, a science teacher at Fred Florence Middle School. She has seven years of teaching experience.
Lisa Teague, a special education teacher at Ronald McNair Elementary School. She has 20 years of teaching experience.
