Event at Meyerson Spotlights State and National Honorees
DALLAS—The Superintendent's Academic Scholars Reception will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora Street. The program recognizing the academic accomplishments of outstanding seniors and recent graduates of the Dallas Independent School District begins at 7 p.m.
Superintendent Mike Moses and Mayor Laura Miller will congratulate the 260 scholars and acknowledge the commitment of their teachers and the support of their families. Those honored include the Advanced Placement Program Scholars and all National Merit Scholarship Program honorees.
NOTE TO EDITORS:
The Advanced Placement State Scholar is a designation granted to one male and female in each state and the District of Columbia. This year's winners from Texas are both from Dallas and both from the same DISD school.
•Lucy Angle, a 2002 graduate of Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center's School for the Talented and Gifted, is presently attending Vassar College. Lucy will be available for interviews during the reception.
• Ross William Losher, also a graduate of the School for Talented and Gifted, is presently attending California Institute of Technology. Ross was unable to extend his winter break, but his parents will be available for interviews during the reception.
