Awards Ceremony Starts at 10:30 a.m. at Booker T. Washington High Schoolx
DALLAS–Three Dallas Independent School District high school students will be honored for their outstanding artistic talents by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Leach Auditorium at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, located at 2501 Flora Street.
The students, along with their teacher, will be recognized through the organization's Arts Recognition and Talent Search program. The mission of ARTS is to identify emerging artists and assist them in their educational and professional development.
William Banchs, NFAA president, will present cash awards and certificates of recognition to the state's top ARTS winners from Dallas. Below are the ARTS winners who will be recognized at the Booker T. Washington High School's awards ceremony.
•Music student Anna Popov: Second Level Award in Music
•Dance student George Fuentes: Three Honorable Mentions in Dance
•Visual Arts student Dane Charboneau: Honorable Mention and Merit in Visual Arts
• Dance Cluster Coordinator Lilly Weiss: Distinguished Teacher in the Arts
Weiss is one of two teachers in the nation to be named Distinguished Teacher in the Arts. NFAA recognizes teachers for their support, encouragement and artistry that they have fostered in their students.
