Eight Area High Schools Will Host 6,900 Seniors
DALLAS—Seniors enrolled in the Dallas Independent School District are invited to Senior Saturday, a last call for financial aid and scholarship outreach, Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at eight district high schools.
Sponsored by DISD counselors, the goal of the event is to remove barriers to college access. Students and parents who participate will receive information about scholarships, financial aid and college entrance exams, and receive help in completing college applications and essays. Senior Saturday will be held at the following high schools: W.H. Adamson, 201 E. Ninth; David W. Carter, 1819 W. Wheatland; Thomas Jefferson, 4001 Walnut Hill Lane; Lincoln, 2826 Hatcher St.; L.G. Pinkston, 2200 Dennison St.; Seagoville, 15920 Seagoville Rd.; Skyline, 7777 Forney Rd.; and Woodrow Wilson,100 S. Glasgow Drive.
Several college access information opportunities have been offered in collaboration with community groups throughout the school year, said Linda Yater, executive manager–Student Services. "However, we want to ensure that every single one of our 6,900 seniors is given another chance to get the assistance they may need," says Yater. "We are hopeful that Senior Saturday will encourage students who may have been uncertain about furthering their education to take the next step."
For information, seniors should contact the school counselor or call (972) 925-3505.
