DALLAS—With 6,730 seniors completing the academic requirements for a high school diploma, the Dallas Independent School District has high school graduation ceremonies scheduled throughout the city in May. Graduation ceremonies will be special celebrations for students, their parents and teachers. For students, the walk across the graduation stage is a celebration of the completion of a life chapter devoted to their education, Superintendent Mike Moses said. Moses said the new challenge for the soon-to-be graduates is to continue their education beyond high school. "We challenge our graduates to approach every day of their lives as if they were on a journey for learning," he added. Students in the top 10 percent of their classes will be recognized at their graduation ceremonies. The Class of 2003 at North Dallas High School will be the first graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Moody Coliseum on the SMU campus. Summer school graduation, scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Loos Field House concludes the district's graduation ceremonies for the school year.
