DISD Teacher of The Year to be Named Thursday, May 22

Winner Will Receive $5,000 Award

DALLAS–General Superintendent Mike Moses will announce the 2003-2004 Dallas Independent School District Teacher of the Year on Thursday, May 22, at the district's annual teacher of the year awards banquet.

Sponsored by Central Market HEB, the banquet begins at 7 p.m. at the Westin Galleria Hotel, 13340 Dallas Parkway. The winner will receive a $5,000 cash award and will represent the district in the next level of competition at the Region 10 Education Service Center.

DISD Teacher of the Year finalists:

• Nancy Bagwell, who teaches seventh grade English/language arts at Thomas C. Marsh Middle School, has been in her present position for 10 years and has 17 years of teaching experience.

•Dian Hetrick, who teaches fourth grade language arts at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School, has been in her present position for six years and has 30 years of teaching experience.

• Randi Hinds, who teaches multimedia students in grades 10, 11 and 12 at Thomas Jefferson High School, has been in her present position for four years and has a total of 13 years of teaching experience.

• Georgianna Wood, who teaches kindergarten at Preston Hollow Elementary School, has been in her present position for 13 years and has a total of 29 years of teaching experience.
