DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District Food & Child Nutrition Services Department, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Human Services, is sponsoring the 2003 Summer Food Service Program June 9 through July 25 to ensure the youth of Dallas will not go without proper nutrition during the summer months.
Children and youth (age one to 18) can receive a free lunch and snack each day at any of the more than 40 + sites. Participating sites are located at parks, recreation centers, churches and other activity centers throughout Dallas.
Approximately 25,000 lunches and snacks will be prepared for distribution Monday through Friday from the food preparation site (excluding July 4). The preparation site will be at Lincoln High School. The Summer Food Program has also provided summer employment for approximately 150 food service employees throughout the district, who previously were unemployed during the summer months.
