Judy Zimny Honored at Luncheon
DALLAS–Judy Zimny, principal at L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary School, was named Principal of the Year 2003-2004 for the Dallas Independent School District at a luncheon June 16.
General Superintendent Mike Moses calls Zimny a "model for high expectations, for inspiring teachers to give their best to their students and for the students, in turn, to give their best to their studies."
More than 90% of students at L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary, including every subgroup, passed the 2002 TAAS and in 2003, 80% of all students passed the TAKS. Zimny's staff is most inspired by her extraordinary leadership skills and her inexhaustible ear. She is described as a "supreme leader."
Zimny recently received a doctorate in education from Texas A & M - Commerce. She received a master in educational administration degree from the University of Missouri-St Louis and a Bachelor of Arts in education degree from Harris Stowe State College. In 1978, she became a teacher, and has served as Hotchkiss principal for nine years.
"My value is determined both by how well I enable the success of the neediest among us – as well as inspire others to be compassionately motivated to further serve mankind," said Zimny.
