2003 Summer Food Service Program Offers Meals to City Youth

Kick-Off Event To Be Held Monday

DALLAS—A kick-off event to announce the start of the Summer Food Program throughout the city will be held Monday, June 16, at Lake West YMCA, 3737 Goldman. Lunch will be served from 10:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.

The program is sponsored by the Dallas Independent School District Food & Child Nutrition Services Department in conjunction with the Texas Department of Human Services. Approximately 25,000 lunches and snacks will be prepared for distribution Monday through Friday from the food preparation site. The preparation site will be at Lincoln High School.

Children and youth (age one to 18) can receive a free lunch and snack each day through July 25 (excluding July 4) at any of the more than 40 + sites. Participating sites are located at parks, recreation centers, churches and other activity centers throughout Dallas.
