DISD Produces TV Show for Parents in English and Spanish

Program to air on Univision-KUVN-Channel 23 and KERA-2

DALLAS–The Dallas Independent School District has teamed up with Univision-KUVN-Channel 23 and KERA-2 to broadcast a television program in English and Spanish to help parents understand their important role in their children's education.

All About Your Child's Schools or Todo Sobre Las Escuelas De Sus Hijos has been produced by Dallas Schools Television to air shortly before the beginning of the 2003-2004 school year. The program will air in Spanish Saturday, Aug. 9, at 9:30 a.m. and Saturday, Aug.16, at 9 a.m. on Univision-KUVN-Channel 23 and in English and Spanish on KERA-2 on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. The first day of school for is Monday, Aug. 18.

The program will show parents the process of enrolling children, the importance of preschool programs and how to help students throughout their entire school career. Other topics of the show include immunizations, parent empowerment, academic plans, school counselors, and the important role parents play in their child's academic success.

The show will be hosted in Spanish by Rebecca Garcia and Raul Treviņo. It will be hosted in English by Joe Muņoz and Libby Daniels.

"The information on this program will be helpful to any parent of a DISD student," said Garcia , Dallas Schools Television. "We think that it may be the most important information for any parent this summer. We also appreciate the support of the program from Univision and KERA to allow us to air this show to reach as many parents in North Texas as possible."
