Hollis Brashear and Rafael Anchia Recognized
DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District Board President Hollis Brashear and Trustee Rafael Anchia have been selected by professional organizations to be recognized for their achievements.
Trustee Brashear has been selected by the Texas Section Honors Committee to receive the Texas Section American Society of Civil Engineers 2003 John A. Focht, Jr. Citizen Engineer Award. The award was established by the Texas Section Board of Direction in 1990 to recognize Focht's dedication to ASCE and his origination of the concept of encouraging members to become better citizen engineers.
Representing District 6 (Southwest Dallas), Brashear was first elected to the board of trustees in 1992. His military and civilian engineering career spans 43 years. During his 21 years as an officer with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, he served as troop commander, staff officer and in other engineering and construction management positions.
The award will be presented at the organization's Honors Luncheon, from noon to 2 p.m., September 26, at the Westin City Center in downtown Dallas.

Trustee Rafael Anchía, District 7 (Central Oak Cliff and West Dallas), has been named a fellow in the British-American Project. The goal of this project is to bring together 24 exceptional people, ages 28-40, from each side of the Atlantic to tackle issues of importance to both countries.
Delegates are chosen for proven leadership in their field and are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and views, including business, government, media, medicine and the armed forces. Since its first conference in 1985, the British-American Project has built a Fellowship of 700 members.
Anchía is an attorney at the law firm of Patton Boggs LLP. An experienced educator and lecturer on the North American Free Trade Agreement and Latino issues, he was a recent recipient of the prestigious American Marshall Memorial Fellowship awarded to young leaders from the United States to encourage transatlantic study of European socio-political institutions.
