Ford Foundation To Become Significant Supporter of Successful Arts Enrichment Program That Helps Students Learn Through the Association with Art

DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Mike Moses will be joined by officials from Young Audiences of Texas, the Ford Foundation, and Dallas City Councilmember Veletta Forsythe Lill Thursday at Casa View Elementary to receive a $300,000 grant for a highly successful and innovative instructional program called ArtsPartners.

The news conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Casa View Elementary, located at 2100 N. Farola. Third grade students will demonstrate a Dallas ArtsPartners program which features an interactive dance designed to develop descriptive vocabulary.

The funds from the grant will be used to educate and train parents on the importance of arts-in-education programming not only for their children but also for their families, showing them the value of ArtsPartners and encouraging them to create a learning environment beyond the classroom walls. The $300,000 grant will directly impact the research and development phase of the project from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2005.
