DISD STUDENTS, STAFF AND COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE PATRIOTIC ASSEMBLY NOVEMBER 7

Deadline for Veterans to Apply for Diploma Oct. 24

DALLAS—Dallas veterans who left high school before graduation to serve in World War II are eligible to apply for a high school diploma from the Dallas Independent School District, and will be invited to participate in this year's diploma ceremony on Nov. 7.

DISD will honor those veterans who complete the application process by Oct. 24.

A Patriotic Assembly and World War II Veterans Diploma Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at Loos Field House, located at 3815 Spring Valley Road. Under the Texas Education Code, an eligible veteran is one who:

•is an honorably discharged member of the armed forces for the United States;

•was scheduled to graduate from high school after 1940 and before 1951; and

• left high school before graduation to serve in World War II.
