DISD Teen School Board Winds Up Annual Holiday Gift Drive

9 Dec 2003

Members to Bring in Gifts Collected for the MLK Community Center Wed., Dec. 10

DALLAS—Members of the Dallas Independent School District Teen School Board will wind up their annual gift drive and prepare to don their Santa hats at their December meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the Board Room of the DISD School Administration Building.

The 58 juniors and seniors who represent their respective high schools on the board are vying for bragging rights as the school that collected the most gifts for the annual drive to benefit adolescents served by the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

At tomorrow's meeting, the final one for the fall semester, students will bring in their bounty and spend some time sorting the gifts by age group.

Through Friday, good samaritans who would like to support the effort may donate CDs, gloves, games, movie tickets, jewelry, gift cards or other gifts suitable for children ages 11-16. The gifts may be dropped off in room 404 of the administration building located at 3700 Ross Avenue. Interested persons may call (972) 925-3297 for additional information.

Teen board members also will participate in distribution of the gifts to the MLK center clients during their winter break, Dec. 20, 22 and 23.
