Trustee Ron Price Elected to National Board

10 Dec 2003

District 9 Trustee will Serve as Vice-President of National Caucus of Black School Board Members

DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District 9 Trustee Ron Price was elected to serve as vice-president of the National Caucus of Black School Board Members at the organization's recent conference held in Reno, Nevada.

The group is a caucus of the National School Boards Association. Price said the association exists in part to provide a forum for the concerns, problems and challenges faced by black school board members.

"In addition to our jobs of effectively representing constituent groups, black school board members sometimes have a unique set of challenges as we look at the issues that face our communities," he said. "Membership in groups like the NCBSBM gives black trustees a place to go in search of answers and a forum to address issues and concerns of the communities we serve. It's an honor to have been chosen for a leadership role in this organization."

Trustee Price also serves as president of the National Caucus of Young School Board Members and president of the National Association of African American School Board Members. He represents Dallas on the Texas Association of School Boards and is president of the Metroplex African-American School Board Members Association.

Elected to the Dallas Independent School District Board in May 1997, Price is currently serving his second term as board secretary and also serves as chair of the board's budget and finance committee.
