School Zone Dallas Goes Primetime

John Eagle Dealerships to Sponsor Special Edition of Show on WFAA-Channel 8

DALLAS— The Dallas Independent School District's Emmy Award winning program, School Zone Dallas , is going primetime, so to speak. Thanks to a partnership with John Eagle Dealerships, the innovative TV show hosted by DISD students airs on WFAA-Channel 8 at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21.

"School Zone Dallas is a program that features all that's right within the Dallas Independent School District," said Superintendent Mike Moses. "We are so thankful to John Eagle Dealerships for sponsoring a special edition of the show to bring it to a larger audience."

John Eagle Dealerships Chairman John Eagle said, "It is our pleasure to partner with the Dallas Independent School District to air this outstanding program. This partnership only continues our long-standing commitment to the Dallas community and its youth."

School Zone Dallas , produced by Dallas Schools Television, won the 2003 Lone Star Emmy Award for Outstanding Informational Program. It is the first time in Texas history that a school district has received an Emmy Award. The magazine-format show highlights the many outstanding teachers, students, parents and volunteers in the Dallas Independent School District.

The special edition of School Zone Dallas will be hosted from W.E Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy in Oak Cliff. The program will feature stories on the Dad's Club at Adelle Turner Elementary, Nancy Bagwell, DISD's teacher of the year, and student volunteers from Obadiah Knight Elementary.

This year's School Zone Dallas cast includes Cari Abuanza, Thomas Jefferson High School; Saul Casteneda, Woodrow Wilson High School; Angele Coleman, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; Rachael Embler, Hillcrest High School; Joe Hamilton, Lincoln High School; Crystal Loftin, Skyline High School; Alfonso Maldonado, Thomas Jefferson High School and Samantha Rodriguez, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Kirsten Brew, a senior at Carter High School and Abraham Hernandez, a junior at Bryan Adams High School are the co-hosts of School Zone Dallas.
