Sessions Provide Information for Parents on Enrolling
4- and 5-year-olds
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District is holding a series of roundup sessions for parents of students who will be eligible for prekindergarten and kindergarten enrollment in August.
Schools across the district are now scheduling their annual prekindergarten and kindergarten roundups to answer questions parents may have about the early childhood education curriculum, programs and activities.
To be eligible for enrollment in the prekindergarten program, a child must be at least four years of age on or before September 1, 2004, and meet any one of the following criteria:
• Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
• Come from a family whose income, according to standards set by the State Board of Education, is at or below the subsistence level established by the state of Texas and according to federal guidelines; or
• Be eligible for homeless services
For additional information, parents may contact their neighborhood elementary schools or call the DISD Early Childhood Education Department at (214) 932-7390.
