Workshop Provides College Information on Admission and Financial Aid

IRS volunteers will help attendees complete and electronically file income tax forms

DALLAS—"A College One-Stop-Does-It-All Workshop" will provide free advice on the application process for high school and community college students, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the University of North Texas Dallas Campus, 8915 S. Hampton Rd. (Three blocks south of I-20, at the corner of Stone Ridge Business Park).

The event is sponsored by "Las Llaves Del Exito", which provides college information to Hispanic students and their families.

Presented by UNT Dallas, DISD and the Dallas County Community College District, the workshop offers sessions in Spanish and English, assistance with college admissions, financial aid and scholarship applications from college and university representatives.

Participants interested in receiving help with their college admission forms should bring an official high school transcript with ACT/SAT scores and rank in class, social security numbers of the applicant and applicant's parents (if available), a sample essay for scholarship/university applications if needed, driver's license or matricula consular, W-2 forms or other records of income, a completed 2003 income tax return, a recent copy of their 2003 bank statement, and a permanent resident alien card (green card).

To further assist the students with the process, IRS volunteers will be present to help attendees complete and electronically file their income tax for financial aid preparation.
