Superintendent Mike Moses, Trustees Will Scoop Ice Cream for the Teachers
DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District Teacher of the Year for each school in the district will be recognized at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at an Ice Cream Social in the Atrium of Infomart, 1950 Stemmons Freeway.
Superintendent Mike Moses, board trustees and administrators will show their appreciation for the teachers by serving them ice cream. Each teacher was selected by their peers at their home school.
The Ice Cream Social is partially underwritten by Voyager Expanded Learning.
The Teacher of the Year finalists and semifinalists, announced in March, will be recognized at the event. The finalists were selected by a panel based on their essay packets and interviews and each will receive $1,000. They are Karen Wilt, George Peabody Elementary; S. Elaine Thomas, Pleasant Grove Elementary; Felicia D. Gibbons, W. H. Gaston Middle School and Kendall Ann Hasse, Woodrow Wilson High School.
The district's Teacher of the Year will be named May 18 at a banquet at the Dallas Arboretum and will receive a $5,000 award.
