Nathan Adams Students Create Environmenal Messages for Shoppers

20 Apr 2004

International "Earth Day Bags" Project Kicks Off Wednesday

DALLAS– On Wednesday, April 21, at 2:30 p.m., Nathan Adams Elementary School students will gather on the front lawn of the school, 12600 Welch Rd., to present grocery bags carrying messages of environmental awareness to Steve Berman of Albertsons.

Earth Day Bags, an international educational project, teams up youth and grocers to promote the significance of Earth Day. Adams students decorated the bags with messages about reuse, recycling and protecting wildlife. On Wednesday, the bags will be returned to the grocery store, and on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, customers shopping at Albertsons, 3630 Forest Ln., will receive their groceries— along with the message that kids care about our environment— in the decorated bags.

The project was created nine years ago in Seattle. Adams students had the opportunity to hear environmental speakers last week in preparation for their involvement. For information, contact Dana Miller at (972) 368-2827.
