J.T. Saldivar Elementary School to Receive Check from Drivetime

28 Jul 2004

New School Partner Will Donate More Than $81,000 July 30

DALLAS— Dallas Independent School District students and staff at J.T. Saldivar Elementary School soon will receive the benefit of more than $81,000 in donations when DriveTime announces contributions to the school at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 30.

DriveTime is a national used car dealership and finance company. Jim Price, regional loan manager, will make the check presentation. According to Arturo Cantu, Saldivar's principal, the funds are targeted for an air conditioning unit for the school's gymnasium, playground equipment, after school tutoring services, Saturday school, teacher/student incentives, and reading and math instructional materials.

"We are most grateful for the support of DriveTime," said Cantu, who added that the school partner is doing much more than writing a check. "Volunteers from the company already have been getting involved with our school activities, and we know the impact will be wide-reaching. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with DriveTime, our new partner in education."

The check presentation will be held at the school, 9510 Brockbank. Area 7 Superintendent Vickie Mitchell will join Cantu in accepting the check on behalf of the school.
