District Sites to Offer Immunizations

DALLAS— The Dallas Independent School District will offer free or low cost immunizations for all district students at Healthy Kids Clinics on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons throughout August.

Rosemarie Allen, associate superintendent-Student Support and Special Services, stressed the importance of immunizations. "Healthy kids are better students," she said. "We don't want kids missing school due to preventable childhood illnesses."

New guidelines established by the Texas Department of Health require students to be immunized against vaccine preventable diseases prior to the start of classes Monday, Aug. 16.

Healthy Kids Clinics will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

Tuesday, August 17 Robert T. Hill Middle School, 505 Easton Rd.

South Oak Cliff High School, 3601 South Marsalis

Thursday, August 19 North Dallas High School, 3120 Haskell Ave.

Skyline High School, 7777 Forney Rd.

Diana Camarillo, school nurse at Moises Molina High School, reminds families to come prepared with immunization records for each student. "If records have been lost, parents should check with their private physician or the health clinic where their child received immunizations previously," Camarillo said.

All locations will have information available in Spanish. Students are invited to come to the Healthy Kids Clinic closest to their home. For more information, ask the nurse at the local school.
