Schools, Radio, Television Personalities, Elected Officials to Mark Beginning of 2004-2005 School Year
DALLAS--Dallas Independent School District schools in Trustee District 9 will host a Back to School parade at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, to emphasize community support for education.
School bands, cheerleaders, drill teams, school clubs and PTAs will gather for the parade in downtown Dallas at 7:15 a.m. on Commerce St. between Houston and Austin St. The parade route will begin on Commerce St. and Lamar, turn right onto St. Paul St., then turn right onto Young St. and conclude at City Hall Plaza, 1500 Marilla St..
District 9 Trustee Ron Price said he is excited about students returning to school and wants them to be excited about learning and becoming successful.
"By putting an emphasis on students, this will help to motivate them into understanding and recognizing the importance of being in school each and every day," he said.
