'Parenting: A Fresh Start for the Journey' is Theme for Summit
DALLAS– The first Parent Involvement Summit will take place Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dallas Convention Center-Hall A, 650 S. Griffin St. in conjunction with the Dallas Independent School District 7th Annual Career Exposure and Forum and College Fair.
Under the theme "Parenting: A Fresh Start for the Journey," parents and community are invited to attend the summit and enjoy more than 20 workshops.
"There was so much interest from parents in the CAAPCO College Fair last year that we decided to offer a series of workshops tailored specifically for parents this year," said Toska Medlock Lee, specialist-Professional Development and Staff Training department. "The district's plans always include parental involvement. Without parents we would never see academic success."
Information at the fair will help parents to guide their children in the process of enrolling in college and to deal with the transition from middle school to high school through workshops such as Parent Partnership: Making a Difference and Transitioning from Middle School to High School.
