District Representatives To Chair Committees
DALLAS—Dallas Independent School District 9 Trustee Ron Price was elected president of the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members at the organization's state convention held September 17 in Dallas.
The caucus' goal is in part is to provide a forum for the concerns, problems and challenges faced by black school board members.
"In addition to our jobs of effectively representing constituent groups, black school board members have a unique set of challenges as we look at the issues that face our communities," said Price. "Membership in organizations such as the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members gives black trustees a place to go in search of answers and a forum to address issues and concerns of the communities we serve. It's an honor to have been chosen president of this organization."
Trustee Price also serves as president of the National Caucus of Young School Board Members and president of the National Association of African American School Board Members. He represents Dallas on the Texas Association of School Boards and is past president of the Metroplex African-American School Board Members Association.
Elected to the Dallas Independent School District Board in May 1997, Price serves as chair of the board's budget and finance committee.
Other district representation in the organization's 2004-2005 leadership includes Trustee Lew Blackburn, elected chair of the Bylaws Committee.
