Academy scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2, at Booker T. Washington High School
DALLAS– A specially-designed Parent Academy will take place Saturday, Oct. 2, at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, 2501 Flora St., from 8 a.m. to noon to answer questions of parents whose children attend the district's magnet, academy and vanguard schools, and for parents who are interested in enrolling their children in one.
The academies offer information to parents to enhance their knowledge about the importance of education to succeed in life.
An overview of the services and programs offered at the schools will be discussed as well as sessions such as Building Your Scholarship Portfolio, How To Pay For College, and <\i>Programmatic Opportunities for Special Needs Populations. This session will offer parents of special education children information about opportunities for students in these schools. The sessions will be offered in English and Spanish.
Upcoming academies will be held:
• Saturday, Oct. 16, Area 8 - Bryan Adams High School, 2101 Millmar Dr., from 8 a.m. until noon
• Saturday, Oct. 30, Area 3 - Rusk Middle School, 2929 Inwood Rd, from
8 a.m. until noon.
